I try as far as possible to eat local food but I do draw the line at Scottish wine (fruit wines do exist but I haven’t tried them) and the climate in Scotland isn’t hot enough for slices.
So, Lupe Pintos in Tollcross, Edinburgh which specialises in Mexican/American/Spanish food is one of my favourite delis. For a long time, we just bought the chorizos (best in Scotland) and guacamole but a couple of wine tastings this winter introduced us to fabulous Spanish wine. Now, we buy lots of wine as well as the rest of the stuff. If you are into Tequila (I’m not), then they have a great selection. Lots of chillis, imported food from the US, hot sauces and great Guacamole and tortillas.
The pictures below show you what it’s like – if you are in Edinburgh – go there – you will not be disappointed. Doug (the Hat Man) is friendly and knowledgable about food and wine (La Copa Garnacha is great value IMHO).
