A family dinner in the Moonfish Cafe in Correction Wynd in Aberdeen. Small but not cramped and when we arrived on a Saturday evening it was almost but not quite full. The menu is small – 5 starters and 5 mains, which I always think is a good sign. After an amuse bouche of king prawn tempura, I started with scallops and black pudding – slightly different in that the black pud was presented in a deep fried ball. These were good but, so long as they are fresh and you don’t overcook them, scallops are always good. Main course was excellent – curried monkfish which was super tasty.
Wine list was also short with a very reasonable markup – not the rip off of selling a £7 wine for £25 that is all too common.
Too full for pud but coffee and tablet (Scottish fudge) was enough.
Fixed price of £18.50 for 2 courses but we had some supplements (for scallops and steak), wine, pre-dinner drinks and coffees. About £28 each.
