I’ve written about Lupe Pintos in Tollcross before – a great Mexican/Spanish deli. They organised a wine tasting of Spanish wines and I went along with my daughter Alison expecting to be there for 10 minutes and to taste a teaspoon of 2 or 3 wines. How wrong can you be! It was great – we were there for an hour, tasted nine different wines with enough wine for Ali to decide that driving was a really bad idea. 3 whites, a pink, 4 reds and a lovely sweet Moscatel. Informative discussions and friendly chat. There was one typical (very good) Rioja but the others were Spanish wines unlike any I’d tasted before. Ali and I were knocked out by the quality and I now have strict instructions that our Christmas wine should come from LP.
Well worth going there for wine – from £5 upwards. We’ll certainly be buying wine along with our chorizos in future. And the people are really friendly and helpful.
