The Marine Hotel is a pub and restaurant on the harbour at Stonehaven. It has good local beer and an unpretentious atmosphere in the bar. We went there on Saturday lunchtime after we had visited the farmer’s market. I don’t eat fish and chips very often now (though they were once a Friday night staple as we headed north for the hills) but I was tempted here. Good choice – the haddock was moist, the beer batter crisp and flaky, the chips were crisp, with tartare sauce. Dunnotar ale, the local beer to drink. Recommended.
Visited 6th February 2010. About £10 each for 1 course + a pint of Dunnotar Ale each.
Visited again for Saturday lunch in August 2010. Two starters – soup and arbroath smokie pate, with oatcakes. Dunnotar Ale again, which is really very good. This place is one of our favourites – it’s well worth a visit. Again, about £20 for two of us.
